I think that having a section where we could set the rules would be helpful. They vary somewhat for middle schools vs. high schools, but not enough that we couldn't set universal rules if that would be what worked best.

Would it work for you to have a location where you set the allowed teams for schools in your state? Are the rules universal to all of the schools or is there any variation?

In our case, we would not want to allow coed teams at the varsity level in the sports we oversee and hold championships for:
Baseball Basketball Cross Country Field Hockey Football Golf Gymnastics Ice Hockey Indoor Track Lacrosse Outdoor Track Soccer Softball Swimming and Diving Tennis Volleyball Wrestling
